P8™

P8™ is engineered as a complete protection system using premium materials throughout every layer of the film. At its core is Lubrizol® aliphatic TPU, selected for its exceptional flexibility, optical clarity, impact resistance, and long-term color stability. Unlike cheaper polyurethane materials that can become brittle, haze, or discolor as they age, high-quality aliphatic TPU is designed to withstand prolonged exposure to UV, moisture, chemicals, temperature changes, and physical abuse while remaining flexible. This allows P8™ to stretch and conform around complex body panels while creating a resilient barrier that helps absorb rock impacts, resist abrasion, and protect the factory finish underneath. Lubrizol specifically develops ESTANE® aliphatic TPU grades for surface-protection and paint-protection-film applications, with emphasis on transparency, weatherability, non-yellowing performance, and durability.

Beneath the TPU, P8™ uses an Ashland® pressure-sensitive adhesive system engineered to create a strong, uniform bond while maintaining the clarity required from a premium clear film. The adhesive is designed to flow uniformly against the paint during installation, helping minimize visible texture while providing the peel and shear strength required to keep edges and complex areas secured over time. Protecting the TPU from above is P8™’s 3+ year self-healing resin top coat—a flexible protective surface designed to resist staining, oxidation, environmental contamination, and fine scratches while maintaining a deep gloss finish. Premium PPF top coats commonly use highly cross-linked polyurethane, urethane-acrylate, acrylic, or similar resin chemistry: the cross-linked network provides durability and chemical resistance, while softer elastic segments within the coating allow light scratches and swirl marks to relax back toward their original shape when warmed. Hydrophobic components can also be incorporated into this surface layer to reduce surface energy, helping water, dirt, and contamination release more easily. Together, the Lubrizol® TPU core, Ashland® adhesive, and self-healing resin top coat give P8™ the flexibility, clarity, gloss, impact protection, and long-term durability expected from a professional-grade paint protection film.
