    W4™ Windshield Protection Film

At the center of W4™ is an Elastomeric Polyurethane (EPU) core engineered specifically for flexibility, elasticity, and impact absorption. Unlike more rigid protective materials, EPU is designed to deform when subjected to sudden force and recover afterward. When a rock or piece of road debris strikes the windshield, the material helps absorb and distribute a portion of that concentrated impact energy across a broader area before it reaches the glass. This combination of toughness and controlled flexibility makes EPU especially well suited for windshield protection, where the material must provide meaningful impact resistance while remaining thin, conformable, and exceptionally clear.

The EPU construction also allows W4™ to better withstand the constant movement and environmental stress experienced by a windshield in

    real-world driving conditions.

    Breaking Down The Science.

    EPU Vs. PET

One of the most common questions from installers and vehicle owners is:

What makes W4 different from other windshield protection films on the market?

The answer comes down to two key components: the base material and the protective top coat. While many traditional windshield protection films are built around a PET base, W4 uses an Elastomeric Polyurethane (EPU) core engineered for greater flexibility, impact absorption, and recovery. W4 is then finished with a durable self-healing resin top coat, designed to resist scratches, wiper wear, staining, and everyday environmental exposure.

Different materials. Different performance. Built for real-world protection.

PET is a polyester. It’s relatively stiff, dimensionally stable, and inexpensive. It works well as a clear protective sheet, but it doesn’t stretch or deform very much when something hits it. With a rock strike, more of that impact load can be transferred directly through the film into the glass.

EPU — elastomeric polyurethane — is much more elastic. Instead of acting like a rigid sheet, it can deform under impact, spread that force over a larger area, and then recover toward its original shape. That makes it better suited to impact absorption rather than simply surface protection.

    Cashew Vs. 3H

Many traditional PET windshield protection films use a relatively hard surface coating—often around 3H pencil hardness. That can work well for collector cars, weekend vehicles, and applications where windshield wiper use is limited. But daily-driven vehicles, track cars, and cars regularly exposed to mountain roads, debris, weather, and constant wiper use demand something more forgiving.

That’s where the Cashew® top coat comes in.

Cashew Co., Ltd. is a Japanese coatings and synthetic-resin manufacturer whose roots date back to coatings developed from plant-based phenolic compounds extracted from cashew nut shells. The company has since developed advanced functional and UV-curable coating technologies used across automotive, electronics, and other demanding applications, including coatings engineered for transparency, wear resistance, and scratch resistance.

W4™ uses a self-healing resin top coat designed differently from a conventional rigid hard coat. Rather than simply relying on surface hardness, the coating is engineered to recover from light scratches, windshield-wiper marks, and everyday surface wear. Minor imperfections can gradually heal at ambient temperatures, while gentle heat can accelerate the recovery process.

The result is a surface better suited to the environment W4 was actually designed for: daily drivers, enthusiast cars, track use, and vehicles that see real road miles.
